14 Apr Summer 2025: ALTAMURA OP Expands Its Offering with Baby Leaf, Watermelons, and Yellow Melons
Summer 2025 marks a new phase of growth for ALTAMURA OP, which continues strengthening its position in the fruit and vegetable sector through a strategy focused on diversification, innovation, and quality.
Alongside baby leaf products — the core business of the organization — watermelons, mini-watermelons, and yellow melons are now joining the summer product range destined for both Italian and international markets.
Following a positive winter season, the baby leaf segment continues to demonstrate strong resilience despite ongoing climate-related challenges affecting the agricultural sector. Rocket salad remains the flagship product, highly appreciated by large-scale retail chains and international markets for its quality, versatility, and production continuity.
Among the organization’s leading products stands the Piana del Sele PGI Rocket Salad, a symbol of the territory and one of the key references within the Italian baby leaf sector. Alongside traditional varieties, ALTAMURA OP continues investing in innovative and high-value products such as baby kale, mizuna, tatsoi, pak choi, and edible flowers, which are increasingly requested by restaurants and gourmet markets across Europe.
For the 2025 summer campaign, production has also expanded to include watermelons and mini-watermelons cultivated in Campania and marketed under the ALTAMURA OP brand, as well as yellow melons grown in Basilicata on more than 150 hectares. The selected varieties are designed to meet the growing market demand for quality, freshness, and stable supply programs.
At the same time, the fresh-cut segment continues to grow through Mama Salad, the ready-to-eat line launched in 2022 and now distributed in several European countries, particularly in the Benelux area and Germany. This segment represents a concrete response to modern consumer needs focused on convenience, food safety, and product quality.
The company’s development strategy also relies on sustainability and agricultural innovation. ALTAMURA OP continues investing in integrated pest management, water resource optimization, expansion of production areas, and technologies aimed at ensuring high-quality standards throughout the entire supply chain.
A strategy that looks toward the future with the goal of strengthening the organization’s international presence while promoting Italian agricultural excellence, local territories, and an increasingly sustainable supply chain focused on global markets.
